Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA) is a nonprofit organization that provides high school students of color with global language learning opportunities. TOCA’s programs enhance students’ language learning experiences, augment their educational outcomes, and expand their perspectives on global issues.
In partnership with NaTakallam, TOCA Online provides high school students throughout the US with engaging and high-quality language learning and cultural exchange opportunities. NaTakallam recruits Conversation Partners, most of whom are refugees, from a variety of countries around the world. These Arabic, French, and Spanish programs will help students build a basic and conversational understanding of the target language while also providing opportunities for students to participate in virtual cultural exchange experiences. To be eligible, students must be between the ages of 13 and 18, enrolled in a US high school, and identify as a student of color. French, Arabic, and Spanish language classes run concurrently, so applicants may only select one language.
